Ferrell and McKay: funnymen with an eye for funnymen.
It probably comes no surprise to anyone that reads this blog–does anyone read this blog?–that we reserve a borderline sycophantic reverence for the surreal goofballery of Tim Heidecker and Erich Wareheim. Because come on, the guys are joke yogis. That’s why we were pumped to find out that the comedy duo are currently working on a feature film to be produced by another duo whose history for comedic bankrolling is downright altruistic, Adam McKay (of Anchorman fame) and Will Ferrell (of, uh, Anchorman fame).
PASTE Magazine reported today that Tim and Eric are currently work-shopping a major motion picture to be produced by Ferrell and McKay. It’s exciting news for fans, though it poses the nagging question: what exactly will the duo known for their 11-minute AdultSwim shows and viral-length Internet videos do with 90ish minutes usually afforded a movie-length movie? Will it be an epic, Network-style exploration of the internal politics of Channel 5? A journey into the sordid underbelly of Jefferton? An Uncle Muscles extravaganza? Time will tell. Time. Will. Tell. Either way, we’re excited.
Tim & Eric also announced that they have a handful of sketches slated for appearance on the upcoming pilot of the Funny or Die show airing on HBO. They’re pretty tight-lipped about the details, but once sketch is set to feature their incomparably bearded frequent collaborator Zach Galifianakis. Check out the full story over at the PASTE blog.
Speaking of Zach Galifianakis, the tractor-riding, lip-syncing snuggler is making his headlining motion picture debut in Toronto next month. Visioneers, which stars Galifiankis as a complacent office employee threatened by spontaneous combustion, is premiering May 22nd as part of Over the Top Festival. Tickets are available here.
In the meantime, amuse yourself with the Visioneers trailer.
